Try downloading the firmware from http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/ and saving it on a USB stick or a SD card. Note that you want the filename that begins with 'fab4' and ends with '.bin'. Take note of the release number (eg, r9408). Then insert the USB stick or SD card in the Touch. After the stick/card is recognized, do Settings > Advanced > Software Update on the Touch's menu and see if it takes. I'm not 100% sure that this will work, but I'm sure it won't break anything.
