I just copy the bin file to the root of my attached USB drive and I don't have to reboot or power off the touch to see the bin file. When I go to settings/advanced/software update it shows both the 7.6 update AND the bin file I just copied to the root. Obviously I choose the update I just put there and not the 7.6. Works like a champ. In fact after I try the nightly build of 7.61 (http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/)and it doesnt work the way I want I just go back to 7.54 which is a bin file on my root directory. All this without pulling power on my Touch. Only one thing of note. Seems like I.E. sees the BIN file as a ZIP file, so one needs to give it back its BIN extension prior to saving it and attempting to update the Touch.
