You are still seeing things in the developer's way.

First of all, no implementation was presented here.
The only thing which was said is that providing an option to disable
autoscan is "probably" very easy (actually I should say "certainly",
and if it is not, it means this software is a disaster).

After that, what people are requiring is actually "just choosing what
song to play".
Because between the situation where you play a song immediatly with
nothing displayed but the file name, and the situation where you
struggle and are unable to play anything (or have to wait unacceptable
delay before you can do it), every sensible person spending money for a
Touch will choose the first one.

Now that being said, all music software I tried provide this basic and
straightforward option.
When I select a file in Windows 7 explorer, main useful information is
displayed.

If the development of this product really requires too much
reengineering to provide such a basic task (most will accept not seing
every tag or artwork in this mode, though I should do it anyway),
seriously, and I mean it, this thing has no future.
Trash it.
Provide a software with nothing else than a big button calling an
explorer.
Or work with another serious product, and make squeezeboxes client
devices for those serious softwares, there are a lot.
