I also own both a Transporter and a Touch. I did an informal A-B test
between the analog outputs of both the Touch and the Transporter a
while back and found the Transporter to be only very slightly better.
However keep in mind that in my system I am using the balanced outputs
of the Transporter whereas the Touch only has unbalanced (or is that
"single ended) RCA outputs. In other words the Touch held its own
against the Transporter. I was using high resolution (24bit-88.2kHz or
96kHz) material during the A-B testing.

A this point I would say get the Touch, use it without a DAC and then
decide if adding an external DAC will be worthwhile.
