You can do this with a local router as the campus authentication will be based on the first MAC address to hit it which would be the router's WAN address. You usually have to force your PC MAC address to be the same as the router's WAN address temporarily, plug it in in place of the router, authenticate and then plug the WAN side of the router in instead.
