Hi there, I've been lurking this forum for a while but this is my first post. I have got a bit confused as to what will actually work with the squeezebox touch and so I hope someone can point me in the right direction
I'd like to use the touch as an almost stand-alone unit playing music from an external hard-drive into my hi-fi. I was looking at using a 'Western Digital Elements 1tb' or Western Digital 'My Book Essential 1tb hard-drive', connected by usb, to hold my 130gb+ music collection (which is composed of about 70%mp3 and 30% flac). Both drives are powered externally. At least the 'My Book Essential' allows you to edit the stand-by mode preferences and I have no problem with removing album art from album folders. Does this set-up sound feasible for what I would like to do? Would I need to take any further steps for this to work (reformat the drive etc.)? Is there a consensus as to how much mp3/flac data the squeezebox touch can deal with on an external hard-disk? Are there any other hard-drives that would be more suitable? Hope these noob questions aren't too tiresome but I have been having problems getting concise answers.
