Just thought I'd add an update ... Out of curiosity and after a spate of other Mac related issues with Spotify and my BT Broadband lately, I decided to hook up a dusty old Dell workstation running XP that I used once upon a time as a print server. I installed LMS, configuring it exactly as I have my Macs.
I'm gobsmacked. The difference is unbelievable. Spotify now works absolutely faultlessly. No dropouts as yet even now at peak time on a Friday evening. The Touch now sounds way better too, with more "holographic" definition and a wider soundstage. It really does sound awesome. I'm yet to figure out why this is so, but at this stage I'm so happy as up til now I was completely frustrated with it all not working on the mac.
