Nothing to do with it's DAC. Digital AVR's perform functions like EQ/PEQ, crossovers, bass management (like in a sat-sub setup) via digital. So if it is receiving an analog input the AVR will convert it to digital to perform such functions. Whether this holds true for your stated AVR's, just as you say the AVR will not perform an ADC then DAC on analog inputs, only you can verify.
