Normally the only setting you need to change is to activate the remote login on the Touch (Settings > Advanced > Remote login > Enable SSH). And as long as the Touch is on your network there is no need to change any cables. But I agree with Triode that if you are not familiar with logging in, you are probably better off giving these mods a miss.
