Mnyb is correct on this. And  there are many older posts addressing the
problems caused by incorrect installation of screened ethernet cable and
ground loops.  Standard residential installation in the United States is
with "non-screened" ethernet cable.  My house was professionally wired
with Cat 6 a couple of years ago. Zero issues (and there are lots of
switches, etc. in various locations).
