By the way, LMS 7.7.2 allows you to set two separate media folders. I assume the idea is to enable someone to specify one folder for music and another for videos etc. However, you seem to be able to select both as "music". So you might be able to use one for your iTunes library and the other for your external HDD music library.
I've no idea whether that would work. (In the past I've used shortcuts, as Mnhyb suggested.)
