I updated to an LMS 7.7.3 beta that I had already downloaded.  

Touch sprang into life (and downloaded a firmware update to 773).  I'll
test the Receivers with LMS shortly; I'll only post again if those have
problems so, unless I do, folk reading the thread should assume the
issue is closed (for sure) by updating to a current LMS and (possibly)
to at least 7.5.
