Ok then I get you . Then the volume controll is out of the picture and so are the RCA outs What kind of files btw WAV or FLAC , the replay gain setting can make subtle volume differences anyway this can be interpreted as "better" or "different". Do try this in some kind of blind test setup ? " normally " digital sources does not sound different if everything is ok . To a modern DAC of recent and technically competent design ( not NOS voodoo or some such ) a source has to be pretty horrible to make a difference . I,ve had DAC's that have been suspectible to source induced differences ( or maybe I thought soo at the time ,no real testing done , I was too audiophile back then ) but none of my modern >2000 equipment have behaved in that way ? Why blind , all humans are affected by cognitive bias ,such small differences drown in this in the typical audiophile sigthed testing when you know what you are listening to . But enjoy your squeezebox nevertheless . Yes a running computer is a nuisance if it is loud a audible from the listening position , my own server is quite small and not very loud and keept away from listening room in another room of my apartment . (I do not run LMs on my desktop I have a small Linux server for that ). I understand your problem ,sometimes the computer is close to where other people sleeps ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96488 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
