Thanks again to all those that have offered advice today. I tried the the suggested change to proxied streaming in the audio setting on lms and the problem remains. Possibly the rebuffering has changed from every 10 to 12 seconds.
I have tried connecting to linn classical via mysqueezebox.com with the server off and the problem remains So I believe that eliminates my server ( a netgear readynas pro2) The URL of the linn classical station is the same whether connected remotely via mysqueezebox.com or directly via the server using the Internet radio menu on the touch.
