Sorry, your post clearly says external, but I misread as internal. Perhaps we have the same toshiba drive?
I am using an older (5 years?) western digital drive. I can get the model if you want. I see no reason why that segate drive would not work. You can always use it has a back up drive. that is what I did with the toshiba drive. I switched it with the western digital drive.
