How ever hiding T-amps is very clever especially if you already have
speakers , just be carefull with the fire hazard . Then auto sensing is
needed or you have to have a power button where you can reach it .

There are other solutions iTach has relay boxes that can be used with
for example iRule app for iPhones , I already use this system for IR and
RS232 connectivity with my Hi-Fi , these matchbox size things use wifi
or ethernet to talk to the app .

My solution for the less critical listen places are reasonably priced
active speakers .
However I have not investigated their power consumption , maybe i should
. The ADAM A3x i use at my computer has Class T or D amp chips probably
don’t use as much as if they had traditional amps .
I like this adam speaker I'll probably replace the fostex in my kitchen
with this one (if I can find a home for the fostex )

*cough* I don’t dare to investigate the standby by power of my complete
Meridian system :/ it's probably not very green , it's sliding bias
class A/B amps so efficient for traditional amps but not near class D
efficiency .

Reuse old speakers for secondary zones is a great idea , If you want to
make a minimal carbon footprint one should however run the mini stereo
until it gives up the ghost before replacing , Or give it sell it
somewhere else so that it gets used instead being recycled .
The actual act of producing and shipping new stuff consume large amounts
of energy ,that should go into the equation to .

I give away stuff before going to the recycling place , you may be
surprised ? When asking people at my workplace there is always some one
that needs an extra dvd player or something .

I did recycle a whole bunch of audiophile cables though , I judged that
as the best thing to do with them .
