Hmm... So you are using the internal server, and have no network traffic at all? I wonder if you have an issue where the USB traffic interferes with the flac encoding and playing (or vice versa). As there is no network traffic involved, the amount of traffic is not relevant, but the small additional processessing from the flac decoding might be enough to cause buffer underflows or missed USB interrups.
