No they don't...

my SBTouch outputs bit perfect 16/44.1 from FLAC to my MDAC, passes the
bit perfect test, and displays 16/44.1 on the MDAC console...

If you use volume control (ie. not 100%), ReplayGain, or Crossfade it
will indeed result in a 24bit output, but not if you turn them off
