_*SqueezeBox_Touch*_: Christmas 2014 I got my first Touch device and after setting it up, doing the software update, etc I was running flawlessly on my music server running Squeezebox Server Version: 7.5.5 - r32671
_*FreeNAS*_: I am running this old version of Squeezebox Server as I am running this software on a FreeNAS 0.7.1 (shere) system on which I was never able to upgrade to LMS versions. (I was able to install Slimnas-2.0.2 and Logitec Media Server software but it was never starting) I decided to stick with the Squeezebox Server as I won't need the enhancements of LMS like picture and movie support. _*HIRES_Digital_Output_Option*_: I want the Touch to work with hires Flac material on the digital output (SP/DIF) and I learned this would not happen with the standard Firmware, no matter what version. The only way I could find this to work properly is to go for the EDO plugin. My 7.5 SBT firmware didn't offer the plugin as is documented, the EDO plugin needs firmware 7.7.x. So I connected to LMS on a laptop with LMS 7.8.0 . Upgraded the SBT firmware and now SBT had EDO installed as well. _*Reverting_to_My_Squeezebox_Server_7.5*_: Pointing back to my music server would create a connection to Squeezebox 7.5.5 and I hoped that would work OK. I know versions on SBT and server need not be the same to get a working connection as others have reported so in this forum. Alas, my upgraded SBT would not connect, instead the SBT presented a message, instructing to upgrade the SBS to LMS. The SBT did not offer a downgrade option to change the firmware of the Touch itself. There was one option for available firmware version in "Settings/Advanced/Software Update" menu. This was version 7.7.3. _*Downgrading_to_firmware_7.7.3*_: After a hard reset and factory reset (little reset button , pressing ADD at power up), not much is changed in the Firmware situation. The Touch is remaining at firmware level 7.8.0 r16754. I have finally chosen to downgrade the SBT firmware to version 7.7.3. by the offered option in the "Settings/Advanced/Software Update" menu **_Questions_: 1: Is it possible to downgrade the firmware in SBT to any lower version, or in the state it came out of the box? Possibly downloading the required firmware and using Putty, SSH etc. or more convenient? 2: What will be the Digital output quality compared to my Transporters? The Transporters stop at 96 kHz where SBT should continue, so the Touch as a digital transport is more versatile, but what about the quality? I have seen reports from John Atkinson who has analysed both , but the conclusions seem related to analog output mostly/only. 3: Clocks in TP and SBT look the same to me, but are these alike? This would go a long way to the same kind of jitter behaviour of the two.
