The developers wanted to do just that. But someone higher up cut beta testing short, with little notice, and rushed it to market. Likely someone who needed a boost in their departments quarterly numbers. Not too much longer after that they cut the actual developers themselves leaving few resources to even keep Touch updated for bugs, much less enhancements (like tweaking the TinyLMS server and USB on the Touch). The limited Touch server and USB woes are not why they dropped the Touch.
