Sorry for not getting back earlier. I've checked the bitrate, the limiting is not switched on. Have restarted the LMS, it seemed just a bit better but not much.
It still sounds too cold and harsh. I noticed that the sound via other sources isn't what it used to be either. Perhaps it is the amplifier, an ageing NAD C350. I'll try to find a good, cheap second-hand amp to see if that improves it a bit.
