I stopped my tidal subscriptions a while back and are now on Spotify
again (320kb ogg )

But when on tidal hifi I did notice that only about 80% was flac and
they where very slow on the uptake to fix the remaining MP3 only files .
But that was my use case how much MP3 only still in thier system nobody
knows I bet they don't .

Streaming services from the record labels perspective is almost " self
service " you upload your catalog to the system , you do the work .

For a hifi service I would expect some sanity checks on the files ,
verifying which master it is from to ensure the best version of the work
, this is more important than the actual file format but nobody does
that ,because it's work :) and requires human intervention .

There is some older treads where varius member of your forum tries to
figure what kind of soundquality you get from thier lossy MP3 or ogg
options , no conclusion really but it seemed that they don't always use
best practice when doing lossy , so it can sound worse than it should .
Like in thier stach of MP3 or ogg files there are some really old crusty
encodings they won't fix .

I suspect a dodgy track on a streaming service don't get fixed until the
record label does it for them .
Their quality control consit on waiting for user compliant and forwards
them to the labels who in most cases could not care less .
