I also use spotify, think it's the unofficial plugin, but can't remember exactly from here. The behaviour was definitely not linked to any active spotify session for me. Occurred apparently randomly irrespective of what was currently playing or what had played last.
I think one of the problems with diagnosing the watchdog forcing a reboot is that it can be triggered by any event that causes a timeout waiting for a response. The symptom may be the same but there could be any number of reasons.
