Formats can be user fixable . USB output not so much that's the great contribution , not needing to run the transcoder is nifty and practical but can be worked around . Personally I rarely buy anything at higher res than 24/96 it does not do anything . I have some special DVD discs that came as 24/192 I ripped them that way for archival reasons and let LMS transcode for me ( no EDO ) for OP: There are excellent utilities to make 24/48 copies of the 24/192 albums for the squeebox 3 until you upgrade the server . DBpoweramp for example . If you find a used Touch good for you , if you don't use USB consider buying 24/96 and convert the 24/192 files to 24/96 this is directly supported by the Touch no need for EDO or transcoding . Some squeezelite based DIY player based on Raspi ? This comes with even fever "limitations" . However having a sever that does transcoding is needed imho if you have multiple players of differing capabilities and want to play or sync files on all players . There is not only sample rate differences between players all does not do the same codecs . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
