So glad I came across this thread. The IR sensor on my Touch was hardly functioning but I was just ignoring it. Read this thread, bought a new power supply from Logitech and now the remote works like the first day it came out of the box. I would definitely give a new PSU a try before ripping open your Touch to replace the IR module.
