If you collect minute details , the Classic Remote has the brigthness
button .

It was used for ofcourse brightness on an SB2 or SB3 . But also to
initiate firmware update with older versions of SB2/SB3 firmware , later
firmware had a setting for auto update of fw . I *think* this turned
into a default behaviour, otherwise a recommended  that
