I would so love to help but it's too expensive to send the board round the world. I am sure this can be brought back to life but, honestly, some soldering experience is required for sure. In my experience all IR remote controllers are compatible to all Squeezebox devices. The difference is in what functionality each control offers. The Classic remote control has more buttons, all of which will trigger the respective function with a Squeezebox Touch.
Here they are side by side: 24036 The button assignments vary from model to model but the IR codes are the same for given functions. The good thing about Classic IR controllers is that they do have just a shiny plastic surface in place of that pesky "soft touch" finish that tends to get sticky over time. On the other hand, out of 8 units I have / had, 3 had the IR emitter torn off the board because it sticks out of the case and is not secured by any means: 24037 If anybody (a child, typically) pokes at the emitter and pushes it inside, it will inevitable tear off its solder pad and stop working. So a little more care is recommended when handling these. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: Classic IR Controller front.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24037| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues!
