I'm a newbie with regard to headphone amps, and I need some advice. I own a Touch, and on occasion I use the Touch's headphone jack. And sometimes I use the Touch with the headphone jack on my receiver. But now I'm considering buying a headphone amp to use with the Touch. At present, I'm interested in the Schitt Magni headphone amp: http://www.schiit.com/products/magni-1 Because I've never owned a headphone amp, I need advice on how to connect the Touch to the Magni in the most efficient, effective way. I'm thinking that there are at least two ways I can accomplish this: 1. Using a 3.5mm to RCA cable, I could plug the 3.5mm into the Touch's headphone jack and the RCAs into the Magni's RCA input jacks, or 2. I could run a RCA cable from the Touch to the Magni's RCA input jacks. The first option, may not produce the best sound. (And maybe it makes no difference at all). The second option would be a bit of a hassle because I'd have to unplug the RCAs that currently run from the Touch to my receiver (An Outlaw Audio RR2150) and instead plug them into the Magni. This would mean I'd have to do this every time I wanted to direct the Touch's output to the headphone amp rather than the receiver, or vice versa. Not a very elegant "solution." I don't know if it would be helpful to you, but here are a couple of things about my receiver: 1. It has Tape In and Tape Out connections 2. It has an "External Processor Loop" that allows one to connect an external device's analog audio outputs to the receiver's left and right analog audio inputs. I don't really understand this, and I can provide a cut 'n' paste from the Owner's Manual if it might be of use to you. Thank you for taking the time to read and ponder this.
