Since LMS on its own works well, I very much suspect the problem is the
UPnP interface between foobar and LMS. I've never liked UPnP, and only
use it when I have to.
In the past I have streamed from vlc on my laptop to LMS reliably. I'm
pretty sure the same can be done with foobar as a source.
On my LMS system (running ubuntu) I use the local apache server. in
/var/www/html/playlists I have a file calledStreamLaptopwav.m3u
containing:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1, Laptop wav
http://ip-of-foobar:8081/laptop.wav
--------------------
In my LMS favourites I have this URL:
http://localhost/playlists/StreamLaptopwav.m3u
So now you need to get foobar on ip address ip-of-foobar to stream wavs
to the LMS ip on port 8081 (or whatever you choose and open in your
firewalls). I'm sure it can be done, I just can't recall how at the
moment :)
