Well I can't help you much on this, knowing what I think about M$
products in the server space ;-)
You can try running "telnet smtp.mydomain.net 25" with the same user
as tracd runs as, to see whether the connection can be initiated, or
the Python snippet you've already run:
> import smtplib
> server = smtplib.SMTP('smtp.mydomain.net',25)
