I am using the announcer plugin (0.2). It is working as advertised. But
it has come to my attention that some users are not getting ticket
change information. And I think it is because the announcer lacks
something for tickets that it has for wiki pages. I apologize if this
has already been discussed, but I do not recall seeing it.

For wiki pages, you can select to watch all pages, or pages that match
some patterns. The pages are not selected by who creates them or who
changes them. It is solely by name. This is fine.

Tickets, however, will only be announced to a person if (1) they own the
component the ticket is for (2) they initially reported the ticket (3)
they currently own the ticket (4) they visited the ticket and selected
to watch it.

This is problematic (for me) in that it is not possible for someone to
be notified about all ticket changes. What I think is missing is some
way for that to happen. There are many possible ways to accomplish this
with the announcer:

(1) allow a checkbox to let a user say they want to be notified of all
ticket creations. Then, they can choose to visit the ticket and watch
it. Unless they are told a ticket has been created, they cannot know to
do this...

or

(2) similar to the expression for the wiki page: allow the user to
specify the components they are interested in tracking.

or other ways I have not thought of.

How are other people dealing with this? Or am I the only one with a
group of curious ticket followers.

BTW, before the announcer plugin, I used the trac smtp_always_cc
parameter, and this worked great. The announcer plugin is seen as an
improvement in that I do not need to add users to any list, and the
users get a bit more control.
