I'm also working on a project called tracgate[0] based on lamson. The
system would be a much simpler replacement for email2trac where most
logic actually takes place within trac plugins, instead of a shell
script.

Email messages are passed to trac via xml-rpc, which means that
the lamson piece is easily replace able by an email alias script.

Tracgate, in cooperation with the announcerplugin, keeps track of which
resource an email is related to. This makes it simple to add components
to handle all sorts of emails, and take the appropriate action based on
the realm of the resource.

Osimons and I have talked about collaborating on adding mailinglist
capability to the lamson app. It should be fairly simple since lamson
comes with a mailinglist app.
