Thanks Mark. What I did is that I disabled most components of the AccountManager. I left active AccountManagerAdminPages, HtPasswdHashMethod and LoginModule. I don't even know what the rest is supposed to be doing. The problem was probably caused by EmailVerificationModule. Things appear to be working and I don't have to redo all my login config.
