you have to use the trac-admin to add 'severity' and other things like new
components etc. just type trac-admin on the shell without any arguments and
it will give you a list of commands.
it does not display a item if there are no definitions for it.

Hi!
I just installed Trac 0.9.4 here in a Linux test box and everything is
working fine. However I noticed that the 'severity' field is not
present in the ticket form, though you can find it at Trac's own issue
tracking site (http://projects.edgewall.com/trac/newticket). Is that
field a customization at Trac's site, or is it now included as
out-of-the-box in the current development version? I personally think
it's worth including this field in the standard package.
