I've done tests with the the PostgreSQL backend (which will scale concurrency to silly levels). Seems perfectly stable, but I've not had time to do an 'official' migration as yet.
I appreciate all of the comments and I would still like to give the MySQL support a try, if it seems feasible. So can anyone direct me to which code to download? I mean which release and which patch or patches? The 986 ticket page:
