Well the saga finally came to an end, I took the cover off as I am one of those 
people who cannot leave things alone, besides muphy's law needs to be followed. 
Found the BNC connector had a poor center connection. Bypassed the connector 
and this thing receives as much as the sound card set up on my FT-8800 
Wh000peee! Will have the guys with better eyes and steady hands at work fix it 
next week

This thing will make life so simple as it small size and connection to the nuvi 
make very simple to deploy and move from vehicle to vehicle

Now if I can just find the easy to follow instructions on connecting the NUVI 
350 to this we will be ready to rock
