I have a "vintage" TM-732A that I was thinking about hooking a tracker2 to. In
trying to sort out the connections before I place an order, I had a couple of
questions:

1) With this radio, does the audio-in to the tracker come from the speaker
jacks in the back or does the microphone have an audio out signal to tap into?
(It looks like one of the pins might supply audio out but I haven't wired up
something to test it with, yet.)

2) Can the voltage from the mike jack power the tracker or should it get it's
12-v from it's own feed?

3) I'm assuming that if I have the mike jack occupied with the tracker cable,
the radio can only be used as a tracker and a receiver but to use the mike
would require disconnecting the tracker and re-connecting the mike, correct?

The good news is at least I was able to get a reconditioned Nuvi 350 while they
were there to be had. Now I'm just one box and a few cables short of having an
APRS station up and running.

What I'm currently deliberating in all this is whether I want to tie up my
dual-band radio (however old it might be) to use as an APRS station instead of
a voice station. It seems like it might be more useful to keep the dual band as
a voice rig and just get a $150 2-m mobile to use as the tracker radio. Then,
for the price of a 2-m mobile, I'd have the tracker AND the dual-band whereas
if I use the dual-band for a tracker, I'll have no voice rig (but $150 extra in
my pocket).

Has anyone else wrestled with this idea? If so, what was the outcome for you?

Thanks!
