Looking at the waypoint output (from a T2-301 or T2-135) I see e.g.... VE7AS-8>APT310,VE7MKF-1*,SSI*,WIDE2*:/031905z4907.20N/12244.76W>157/013/A=000062 $GPWPL,4907.20,N,12244.76,W,VE7AS-8*72 $PGRMW,VE7AS-8,18,00AA,157/013*5B
Scott - I understand that most GPS receivers accept the $GPWPL sentence for waypoint upload, but is it the $PGRMW sentence that we are waiting for Garmin to support in Nuvi models other than the 350? Per http://www8.garmin.com/support/pdf/NMEA_0183.pdf -------------------------------------------------------- 2.1.5 Additional Waypoint Information (PGRMW) The $PGRMW sentence provides the ability to update a waypoint's symbol, altitude, and comment. $PGRMW,<1>,<2>,<3>,<4>*hh<CR><LF> <1> Waypoint identifier <2> Altitude in meters <3> Symbol number in Hexadecimal up to FFFF. Uses the enumerated values as defined for symbol_type. <4> Comment string The following notes apply to the PGRMW input sentence: 1. The waypoint identifier must exactly match an existing waypoint on the unit. If the unit cannot find a waypoint that matches the given identifier, the rest of the sentence will be ignored. 2. See Garmin Device Interface Specification 001-0063-00 for enumerated values of symbol_type. 3. If the comment string contains more characters than the unit supports, the unit will ignore any characters beyond the size allotted for comments. 4. Not all units support this sentence. -------------------------------------------------------- It's item #4 that I don't like! You would think that it would be a really update for them to add support for this to other models. 73 es cul - Keith VE7GDH -- "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!"
