Got the wind chill calculation coded today. Next up is dew point, which doesn't look so bad, at least as long as a +/- 1C approximation is good enough and you don't need the official NOAA calculation.
I'm trying to find a source for a 3.6v NiMH battery that's thinner than 1/4" so I can fit it under the board. If I can do that, it'll avoid using any space that might be used later by a radio board or display. And if I can get the standby power consumption as low as I think I can, it should be good for at least a couple of days on internal power alone. Also trying to find a good source for vacuum formed trays so I can pack the things more efficiently. Right now a complete station occupies a 12"x9"x6" box. Makes a exporting any quantity by air freight an expensive proposition. Sometimes I miss the days when I was just a programmer. =] I've also figured out how I'm going to handle automatic DST time adjustment, regardless of what country you happen to be in. That one was bugging me. My terminal blocks came in from China, but due to a communication problem they're 0.150" pitch, not 3.5mm. I've ordered enough 3.5mm terminal blocks to finish up the 20 or so v1.1 boards I've got now (at about 8x the price) but rather than correct the China order I've decided to switch to 0.150" pitch on the next board rev. I chose 3.5mm initially because I didn't think I'd get any other pitch to fit, but the 0.150" terminal blocks will be fine if I move the regulator, and they're much easier (and cheaper) to find domestically. And the CNC setup and label design were so much fun to do the first time, I figured why not do it all over again? =] Once the baro and humidity sensors come in, and I get the firmware a little more polished, I'll make the v1.1 boards available at a discount for beta testers.
