There was a recent post about the Nuvi mount and wires. I took the message
as there being too much 'stuff' visible in this set-up (I may very well be
wrong in that interpretation, however). It did make me think to offer some
photos and a description as to how I mounted my Nuvi 350.

In my VW Passat there is a shelf below the steering column in to which my
Alinco DR-135 and T2-135 fits nicely. To mount the Nuvi I simply attached a
magnet with double sided 3M foam tape to the dash in a convenient place. I
attached the adhesive backed mounting 'mate' disc that came with the Nuvi to
a round piece of flat steel (I turned the piece on a lathe but I'd think a
fender washer from the hardware store would work too). My Nuvi is attached
to the dash via the magnet and is easily removable. I also added a second
magnet under the dash so when the car is parked I can 'hang' it under the
dash and out of sight of potential thieves.

This system works really well for me, is simple, inconspicuous and neat.
The photos linked below should help explain what I tried to describe above.
