What cable did you get? Can you provide a link to it? With the FMI cable, it should put a GPS receiver like the Nuvi 350 in FMI mode when it is connected to an OT2m, T2-135 or a T2-301. Unless you have opened up the GPS surgery and done some modifications, the GPS receiver must be powered from the cradle (back connector). What do you mean by "can't get the unit out of Garmin mode"? It must be in Garmin mode to work with the FMI cable.
