Have you tried sending something like "--info" from the Nuvi to the T2?  
If this works, then the cable in question is ok as it requires a 
round-trip between the Nuvi to T2 and back.  If you can't get to 
messaging, then the Nuvi is no longer in FMI mode.  You are still 
powered from the cradle, right?
