TPL stands for Third Party Liability that may cover such things as no fault auto insurance, workers compensation and also has fairly large impacts on the Medicare Secondary Payer Program and mostly state Medicaid programs as the statutorily required payer of last resort. Basically it can also just be viewed as Coordination of Benefits (COB).
