Del, Utimately you will be the one who decides. I have a documnet from McKesson Systems that spells out their HIPAA changes going from a UB92 to an X12 Hospital system.
New Fields: Pregnancy Indicator Estimated Delivery Date Accident Country Code Service Authorization Exception Code HIPAA Insurance Type CLIA Number, (lab charges on 1500) Provider Taxonomy Code HIPAA Relation ship Code Mammography Certification number EOB Indicator Replacing local codes: EPSDT CHAP Disability Source of Payment Claim Status Surprised at this short list? I was. This is the bare Minimum from UB92 / HCFA-1500 to HIPAA compliance according to McKesson. From there on you can customize and add on Segments and Elements that a trading partner might require or that you find necessary. EDI will evolve over time to completely reorganize healthcare but for now, just to replicate existing structures, is not as complicated as studying the IGs might suggest. Hope this helps Martin Scholl Scholl Consulting Group, Inc. 301-924-5537 Tel 301-570-0139 Fax [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.SchollConsulting.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Del Texley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, April 17, 2002 11:27 AM Subject: database of data fields > I've been following the discussions here with quite a bit of interest but > my first post is of a more basic need. > > I've been given the task of determining what fields we don't currently > maintain in our database that are required by the transaction > codesets.
