Cool! Personally I have a pretty narrow knowledge of transcode
(I sometimes transcode tv series to watch on my cowon d2), but I will try to 
contribute.

Maybe a good start would be to write step by step instructions for the "combos" 
briefly described here:

I have no experience as a wiki admin, but yes, perhaps a mediawiki is the way 
to go. I'm not volonteering for the position right now, but I will look into it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. But I haven't noticed anything wrong with the 
wiki other than the lack of up to date information. :)
