Hi Robert,

I have used both DVD:Rip and Handbrake on and off in the past 5-6 yrs and even
as recently as 8-9 months ago.. Just not very happy with the results from
either.. I have pretty much given up with them as trying to keep up with the
ever changing encryption schemes and now since a large part of my disc
collection is Blu-Ray rips I went with a commercial product under Windows 7.. I
am using PavTube Ultimate Converter (ultimate Converter version.. not the basic
packages) and the results are excellent. It has been well worth the $60 price.
Support is good even if a bit slow (may take up to 7-10 days for a response) but
always a polite and helpful response. It has never failed to rip a disc or
convert one format to another format.. I have thousands of successful rips in my
collection allowing me to store the discs away safely from the family. Current
online storage is just over 25Tb and about 85% full. Quality of the rips are
excellent (always make sure to use the original frame rate to prevent frame rate
interpolation issues that cause choppy playback!). Picture quality on my 124"
screen is first rate with a 2:1 compression on BD material (mkv containers) and
no compression on DVD material (mpg containers). I have never been able to get
either DVD:Rip or Handbrake to provide this level of performance.

Good Luck!
