Ah, no. You also need some other files that Pootle and translate-tools
depend on. The information regarding which files, and where to get them,
is located in the 'README' file, which you will find in the expanded
Pootle directory (e.g ~/Pootle-0.10/Pootle/README). The 'README' file
will also help your installation process :)

A quick look at it's dependencies will show:
- kid (http://kid.lesscode.org/ , kid also needs setuptools, but should
automagically download it for you)
- elementtree (http://effbot.org/downloads/#elementtree)
- python >= 2.3 (http://www.python.org)

Why do they appear in separate tar files upon being bzunzipp-ed ?

Some files are tar'd and bzip'd for a nice compression (though usually
labeled .tbz or such), you can just use 'tar xjf' instead to uncompress
a bzip file. Or to check exactly what the file is before you uncompress
it, a simple 'file <file>' will do.

Distutils came packaged with python 2.4 for me (Ubuntu 6.10), though a
quick google shows having/installing distutils can be a bit of an issue
on SuSE boxes. I suggest; checking your python PATH variables, making
sure distutils (and it's core.py) is installed, or perhaps try using the
SuSE package manager to install (or re-install) distutils.
