You mean a subset of the PO files ie filtering while editing as apposed to
before?
Let me have another try : while browsing PO entries, editing functions are no more accessible. User can't access the "show editing functions" anymore (see attached snapshop). It would be worth keeping the "show editing functions" link in the "navigation banner" all the time, so as to save a few clicks.
    * statistics printed on the project page (and then on the project/language
page) seem to count words, whereas it seem to me that counting entries would be
more natural. Is this customizable ?
Depends. Counting words gives a better idea of how much work remains, counting
strings doesn't give as good a guide. But it can be confusing I guess if its
only 1 fuzzy string but you suddenly see 20 fuzzy words.

Strings is probably a better guide on fully translated work that needs to be
updated.

No its not customisable, although it might be if you change the HTML template.
I'll have a try then. Can you tell me what template or piece of code should be changed ?
Thanks.
    * the terminology used for editing is not very explicit ("quick translate" and "translate
all"). "Quick translate" seem to mean "Translate missing and fuzzy entries".
That is exactly what quick translate does.
Fine.
We have some performances issues on our server (bi-Xeon, 1.6Gz, Mem: 4Gb). Pootle becomes very very slow while editing sympa.po (1600 entries in the catalog). I tried installing PyLucene without success. We will have a try with Apache proxy feature.
I'm worried about this. Any advices to solve this problem ? Would PyLucene be a
solution ? Should we split our PO files in smaller pieces ?
Since we cache the file, large files will degrade performance.
Splitting it will help, as we've struggled to nail down the problem.
PyLucene is just for indexing, it should make searching and access
faster when your doing for instance a 'quick translate' but it won't
speed up other things.
Ok.

I forgot to report another problem I face : how can I get rid of STDOUT of the Pootle server one it has been started? I had a try with the '-B' option without success.

Thank you.
