Hi everyone :)

Question 1:
Is it normal that Pootle is awfully slow to merge/update a 15000 words template for each language file?
(when I say slow, I mean 10 minutes slow)

I had the same experience with a smaller catalog (11.000 entries) ; the
merge would result in an HTTP timeout with the server.
Eventually I had to write my own scripts (using msgmerge) to do the merge.

For anyone who hasn't upgraded their gettext yet, msgmerge from gettext-0.15 on, is considerably faster than previous versions.

I tested this for Bruno with my 14MB compendium, and it's a lot faster. Previously, he didn't realize we worked with files of this size.

I think this is a problem for developers in general: they can't really know how their software will perform/scale under different conditions, until they occur. Some things just don't come out in testing.

The Debian integration project is certainly finding some areas for improvement. That's great: exactly what we need to happen. :)

The last thing we want is everyone saying, "Nah, it's fine. Nothing needs to improve." Then it's _dead_, not fine. Responding to the user experience is what keeps a project alive.
