AFAIR, there was some problems regarding binary format of jars supplied
by upstream (PyLucene). See
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=256283

It worked after upgrade from previous version (1.9.x). Search worked
well but when I tried to rebuild index new pylucene generated empty (20
bytes) index files (manually and automatically from web). :( 

So, after my first test I can say that upgrading to PyLucene 2 with your
patches for Pootle brakes indexing.
